Ch. Hydabrek’s What the Dickens

“Oliver”

“Oliver” – Owned and bred by Juanita Heidebrecht, (Retired)
DOB: February 26, 2010

We finally agreed on a name and not all for the same reasons.

What to name our very first male show dog? Over the years I had collected a few really cool show dog names but no call names. I tried to find just the right call name to match the really cool male show dog names I had collected over the years. Nothing seemed to fit or we could agree on. We both could agree on Oliver. The name Oliver seemed to really fit him, but then what do I use for a really cool registered name? I wasn’t going to use Oliver Queen. Who’s going to get that?

When I think of Oliver I think of Oliver Twist; the young sweet boy who always found himself in the middle of someone’s troubling plans. Well, Charles Dickens (1812-1870), a very popular novelist back in the Victoria era wrote Oliver Twist. Ok, I can work with that. Why not ‘What the Dickens’?

Hubby considered Clark, Kal-El, Lex , but he thought everyone has done a Superman theme. He began to search for other name in the comic book world: Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern; Jon J’onnz , the Martian Manhunter; Barry Allen, Flash; Bruce Wayne, Batman; and then he thought Oliver Queen , the Green Arrow. Oliver is a regular guy like Batman with no superpowers but his life was turned upside down. Oliver Queen became the Green Arrow after surviving being stranded on a deserted island and decided to use his skills to fight Crime.

Well, since I do the paper work I have the ultimate veto power, so “What the Dickens” his name will be.

Oliver has a sweet and gentle personality who is always so happy.
